Tile Project

15 September 2011

A partnership with H&R Johnson Tiles and Speight of the Art, this project will see children and families from across Stoke-on-Trent create artwork based on the theme of the Olympics for a piece of public art for the City.

A series of ceramic and design workshops will take place throughout September and October 2011 for people to have a go at creating their own artwork using a variety of printing and drawing techniques onto paper and clay, all around the Olympic theme.

The final design for the installation will be made up of hundreds of individual artworks created by local people during the workshops; from screen prints to poems, to create a unique and vibrant design that will then be printed onto a series of tiles using innovative new ceramic printing techniques by local company H&R Johnson.

The artwork will be unveiled to coincide with the Olympic torch journeying through Stoke in May 2012.

Workshops will be taking place at the Potteries Shopping Centre and original Spode Factory Works – dates coming soon…
