07 March 2012
The British Ceramics Biennial announces its evaluation findings today (7 March), proving that the Biennial was a major success for Stoke-on-Trent.
Findings from independent research conducted by Audiences Central and Earthen Lamp, using Cultural Olympiad West Midlands’s newly developed Economic Impact Toolkit for events and activities, show that last year’s Festival:
· Attracted 32,700 visitors to the three main festival venues in
Stoke-on-Trent
· Generated £2.08m worth of economic activity in the city
· Achieved over £1m worth of media coverage
· Enabled over 700 adults and over 200 schoolchildren to
participate in workshops and activities
Cllr Mark Meredith, cabinet member for economic development for Stoke-on-Trent City Council stated:
“The BCB plays a key role in emphasising and maintaining Stoke-on-Trent’s ceramic connections. It is encouraging to see that the biennial has gone from strength to strength this year. It not only has a positive impact on the economic growth of the city as visitor figures rise but also helps to showcase the city’s pottery connections to a wider audience.”
