ALUSID started life as a research project funded by the Arts & Humanities Research Council. ALUSID produces SilicaStone a safe, non-flammable architectural surface suitable for a range of applications.

Made from 100% recycled materials (glass, vitrified porcelain and Johnson Tiles’ ceramic waste) mixed with ceramic pigment. SilicaStone is similar in appearance to natural stone, but made from materials diverted from landfill, thereby reducing the damage inflicted on the landscape by quarrying. Their production process uses no chemicals or resin binders and manufacturing produces zero waste, the material can also be endlessly recycled. The company is a leader in innovation and sustainability.
