Exploring Spode allows visitors to this extraordinary site to experience its history and meaning through the work of six artists who have been commissioned by the Biennial to make specific responses to the factory buildings. 

Each artist will be presenting work around the periphery of the main exhibition spaces, opening up new and different aspects of the original factory to the curious visitor.  From frozen/melting clay casts to spinning plates, underpinning each response is a fascination with the history of the building and the people whose working lives so animated it.

Also look out for photography by Christopher Huthwaite.

Explore artists: Philip Eglin, Peter Lewis, Neil Brownsword, David Cushway, Caroline Tattersall and Peter Jones.
