The successful candidate will enjoy working with people and have a close eye for detail to ensure BCB learning projects and programmes run effectively and deliver educational and social benefits for children, young people and adults in both formal learning and community settings.

About the Learning & Participation Assistant role
The role of Learning & Participation Assistant is ideal for those starting out in their career. If you are friendly, organised, energetic and interested in creativity and clay, then this could be the job for you. There will be opportunities for training and you will be given support to develop your confidence in the role.
You will be joining the team of one of the UK’s leading ceramics organisations, British Ceramics Biennial. You will work closely with the Learning & Participation Manager to support the planning and delivery of projects and workshops, including ensuring a safe working space for children, young people and adults.
An enthusiasm for clay and ceramics is a must-have. Although you may not have a huge amount of experience, you will be ready to learn new skills as part of the job role, and then to share these with others. Along with good communication skills, you’ll be organised, have an eye for detail and an interest in working with people. You will take pleasure in creating activities that are inclusive and accessible for a wide range of participants.
Sometimes you will work on a particular task by yourself, at other times you will work with others. You will need to manage your workload and at times will need to make decisions about what to prioritise.
Role breakdown
Title: Learning & Participation Assistant
Contract: Permanent contract for 0.5 FTE
Salary: £11,573 for 2.5 days per week (equivalent to £23,146 for full-time)
Reports to: Learning & Participation Manager
Location: BCB Office and Studio, Stoke-on-Trent

Summary terms and conditions
Annual leave is 35 days per annum pro rata including public holidays. For this role, you will receive 17.5 days annual leave per year. The probationary period is six months and the period of notice is two months in writing.
