Engage at Ceramic Art London
British Ceramics Biennial will be bringing hands-on engagement activity from the 2019 festival to this year’s Ceramic Art London event. Visitors can drop-in to the space between 10.30am and 4.30pm to have a go with clay and find out more about the BCB’s year-round engagement projects.
Fri and Sat 10:30am – 13:30pm, Sun 10:30am – 12:30pm
Get involved in making a contemporary mini Staffordshire flat-back figurine as seen in the BCB Cultural Icons exhibition at The Potteries Museum and Art Gallery and Hove Museum and Art Gallery. Visitors will gain an insight into the process through pressing and fettling their own mini flatback and see some of the finished figurines produced over the 6-week festival.
Movements with clay
Fri and Sat 14:30pm – 17:30pm, Sun 13.30pm – 16.30pm
During the second half of the afternoon there will be the opportunity to experience elements of The Clay Quarter, BCB’s engagement space that featured in the 2019 festival. Visitors will be invited to explore the material through sight, sound and simple movements to encourage deeper interactions with clay without the pressure to make a certain thing. BCB Associate Artist, Gabriella Rhodes, will be present for any conversations or questions prompted by the activities.
