2019 Festival

British Ceramics Biennial 2019. Celebrating and promoting contemporary ceramics in the Ceramic City Stoke-on-Trent, 7 September- 13 October.

For five weeks this autumn Stoke will again host the British Ceramics Biennial with an ambitious programme of exhibitions, site-specific installations, events and hands on activities. Working with artists – international, emerging and established, presenting new ideas, new works, new forms of expression with clay, which extend our understanding and appreciation of contemporary ceramics.

2019 will see an expansion of the festival model and programme with major projects being presented with partner organisations across the city. The magnificent China Hall on the former Spode factory site will serve as the festival hub and as the starting point for a journey that will take visitors out to explore the Spode Works site in Stoke Town; on to Middleport Pottery in Burslem; Potteries Museum and Art Gallery with AirSpace Gallery, Hanley City Centre; to World of Wedgwood in Barlaston in the south of the city.

Drawing in local and established audiences and reaching out to new audiences, the dynamic critical mass of festival activity will turn a spotlight on Stoke-on-Trent and illuminate the unique story of the City as the home of British Ceramics.
