Carolina Garfo is the artistic name of Carolina Carvalho, born 1993, in Paradela, Trás–os-Montes, Portugal, where she lives and works. She has a degree in Sculpture from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Lisbon (2014) and did an Erasmus study at the Hochschule für bildende Künste Hamburg (University of Fine Arts of Hamburg) in Germany (2015). She completed a postgraduate course in Sound Art: Experimental Techniques at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Lisbon (2024).
Carolina has been exhibiting her ceramic sculptures and cross-disciplinary works (video, sound exploration and performance) regularly since 2014. Highlights of her career include “Sem Cavalos, Stand 1. 4” exhibition, Stand Pauto, Lisbon (2020); ‘Perdição Despassarada – Performance Installation’, at CAMPUS Paulo Cunha e Silva, Porto (2021); ‘Juegos Tradicionales de La Luna Rosa’, at Espacio Comal, Oaxaca, Mexico (2022); ‘Ornitofaunia’, at Museu Carlos Machado, Ponta Delgada (2023); and ‘Onde vai o pião vai o ferrão’, at Galeria de Arte do Convento do Espírito Santo, Loulé (2023).
