Andrea Leigh lives and works in Derbyshire. Her practice is influenced by a career in pattern design and recent work on inclusion. She uses clay in experimental ways as an expressive and narrative material, more like a painter.
Andrea graduated from the University of Staffordshire with an MA Ceramics in 2023. Her work was selected for Fresh 2023 by the British Ceramics Biennial. In 2024, she was the first Artist in Residence at the new BCB studio on the Spode site in Stoke.
She explores themes around the destruction of cultural heritage and pattern as a language of cultural identity. Andrea reuses waste as sculptural elements and experiments with renewable glaze materials. Her work shows fragility and emotive qualities that resonate with others.
