About the Art Handling Tour
Join in for our The Art Handling Tour, a facilitated event hosted in our exciting, new BCB Tactile Handling space.
We’re want to make 2021 accessible by welcoming you to handle and discuss some ceramic artworks created by the BCB AWARD artists.
The Tactile Handling space has been primarily designed for people with visual impairments or are blind. We recognise that ceramics is a wonderfully tactile material and that, as the public can’t touch the art we have on exhibition, we want this to be an enjoyable space that can bring people a different experience of the festival, the work on exhibition and artists we work with. Other festival visitors are welcome to book into this space, however priority booking is available to visitors who are sight impaired.
Who
The Tactile Handling space has been primarily designed for people with visual impairments or are blind. Other festival visitors are welcome to book into this space, however priority booking is available to visitors who are disabled.
If you are an organisation that supports people with visual impairments and you would like to book in to this space Wednesday-Friday, please get in touch: rhiannon@britishceramicsbiennial.com and we’ll see what we can do.
Where
This event is taking place in-person at BCB’s festival hub, The Goods Yards.
Delivered By
Rhiannon Ewing-James, Creative Producer.
Tickets
Maximum 5 people per tour.
We’re introducing a sliding scale ticket system for ticketed events at British Ceramics Biennial 2021.
The scheme works by having a sliding ticket price scale – the ticket costs are Free (£0), £2, £4, £6, or £8 – along with a recommendation of what you might choose to pay according to your personal situation. You won’t be asked for any proof / ID, we just ask that you are honest!
Our suggestion of what to pay is the following:
- Free or £2 – For those who are finding it hard to meet everyday costs
- £4 or £6 – For those who can meet daily costs but find it can be stressful to do so
- £8 – For those who are employed and can meet their daily costs comfortably
Venue Accessibility
We are in the process of confirming our new venue’s accessibility. Details will be announced soon.
Contact access@britishceramicsbiennial.com with any questions or concerns in the meantime.
Supported By
This space wouldn’t have been made possible if it wasn’t for the support of consultant and writer Caroline Butterwick and the advisory group who greatly supported the creation and design of the space and activities held within it.
