Don’t miss this opportunity to witness the fusion of ceramics and cinema.
Experience the intersection of clay, film, and storytelling in this exclusive screening of all 10 Award artist films from the British Ceramics Biennial (BCB) 2025. In collaboration with Feminist Film Club, this event celebrates diverse narratives and innovative practices within contemporary ceramics.
About the Films
Elastic Pie was commissioned by BCB to create a series of short films that delve into the creative process of this year’s 10 Award artists, visiting the artists’ studios all across the UK, and this is your chance to experience them all together.
The artists share immense creative ambition, using clay with exceptional levels of artistry, skill and sensitivity. From this shared base, they explore topics including the anxieties of housing insecurity, Rococo ornamentation, the human condition and the effects of wildfires on native biodiversity.
The short films offer intimate glimpses into how the artists explore themes of time, place, and identity through clay. Each film is a testament to the evolving language of ceramics in contemporary art.
Why attend?
- Discover New Narratives: Engage with films that highlight underrepresented voices and stories in the ceramic arts
- Connect with Creatives: Join a community of artists, filmmakers and enthusiasts and learn more about British Ceramics Biennial.
- Participate in Discussions: After the screening, participate in a discussion led by members of the Feminist Film Club and BCB, exploring themes of identity, materiality and storytelling.
About Award 2025
Award is the Biennial’s headline exhibition featuring ten of the UK’s leading contemporary artists who have created new work for the British Ceramics Biennial 2025. The selected artists are drawn from over 180 submissions, all considered by an expert panel. Selection is based upon the quality, vitality and significance of the proposals.
The Award Selection Panel selected Jo Taylor as the BCB Award Prize winner, who will receive £10,000 and an invitation to exhibit at the next Biennial in 2027.
Award artist talks will take place every Saturday of the Biennial. Click here to find out more.
