Clay School Conference 2019

On Thursday 21st November we gathered for the annual CLAY School conference, a celebration of all things CLAY School as we look forward to the 2019-20 academic year.

Taking place in the wintery scenes of World of Wedgwood, teachers from local primary and secondary schools joined us for an evening of exciting plans, ceramic Q&As and inspirational stories. One of our BCB associate artists also led a great CPD session on lithograph printing around the Ferdinand the Bull story which the teachers will be able to take back to their classrooms and deliver.

PLUS recent Staffordshire University graduate Caitlin Darby produced this year’s stunning CLAY School Plaque! Inspired by the illustrations of scientist Ernst Haeckel, Caitlin wanted the plaques to celebrate ceramics as a multidisciplinary subject, combining art, design, science and engineering.
You can see more of Caitlin’s work through her Instagram here.

Huge thanks to all the teachers that joined us, our Educational manager Natalie ArmitageWorld of Wedgwood , Becky and James from Potclays Ltd., Keith Brymer Jones, photographer Jenny Harper and artists Joanna Dawidowska and Caitlin Darby.
