Alice Thatcher is an artist working with clay and people in Stoke-on-Trent, whilst working as studio assistant at the BCB studio.
Alice graduated from The University of Sunderland in 2012 where she explored her love for ceramics. Alice has been an associate artist for the British Ceramics Biennial since 2015, working on projects such as World In One City, Community Maker and CLAY School. Alongside working with people, Alice creates delicate porcelain paper clay work. Her work reflects ideas of fragility, material transformation and human relationships and she aims to challenge the perceptions of porcelain and paper by creating visually ambiguous work.
“Having worked on the ‘Clay Pit’ during BCB 2017, I’m most looking forward to exploring the second phase of this explorative, person-centered family experience during this year’s festival.”
