Alice Thatcher is an artist working with clay and people in Stoke-on-Trent, and a studio assistant at the British Ceramics Biennial studio at Spode Works.
Since graduating from the University of Sunderland in 2012, as well as freelancing, Alice has worked with British Ceramics Biennial, Appetite Stoke, B-Arts and Creative Health CIC, facilitating clay workshops and working on various community and school projects in the local area. Alice has been an Associate Artist for British Ceramics Biennial since 2015, working on projects such as World In One City, Community Maker and CLAY School.
Alongside working with people, Alice creates delicate porcelain paper clay work. Her work reflects ideas of fragility, material transformation and human relationships and she aims to challenge the perceptions of porcelain and paper by creating visually ambiguous work.
