Join us for the BCB Transferer Project exhibition and see the students’ work and the journey the project has taken.

This exhibition celebrates the work that students from Thistley Hough Academy and Haywood Academy have done over the last 12 months. The students have been developing concepts, designing and making artworks, and been involved with curating and marketing this exhibition. They have also worked with guest artists and visited the V&A Wedgwood and the V&A South Kensington, building their confidence and developing their oracy and critical thinking skills.

About Transferer

Transferer is an innovative project that explores cross-curricular approaches to art-based learning. Additionally, this builds confidence and key transferable skills. This programme develops the learning and success of the Fresh Youth Panel, an initiative in which young people informed the selection of Fresh exhibitors for the 2021 and 2023 British Ceramics Biennial.

Transferer is engaging students within the community. They work with clay, talk about art and create their own exhibition spaces. As a result, we are supporting improvement in their oracy and critical thinking skills.

Opening night

Drop in anytime between 4:30 and 7pm, Friday 19 July 2024

General hours

10am to 4pm, Saturday 20 – Thursday 25 July 2024

There is free parking at the Tesco Hanley Extra car park for up to three hours or there are paid public car parks close by at Clementsons Mill Car Park, Brakes Parking, Pall Mall Car Park, John Street Car Park and street parking on Broad Street.

Booking

We don’t require booking, the BCB Transferer Project exhibition opening night is a free, drop-in event and there is no need to book during general opening hours.

Light refreshments will be served on opening night.

Access

There is flat access from the disabled parking at the back of One Smithfield on Warner Street. The venue is on the ground floor.
