From Waste to Resource Conference – Playscape & Closing Remarks

Playscape: an interactive rammed earth artwork

Guest Speaker: Sarah Fraser

Playscape uses rammed earth – a sustainable, ancient construction technique that creates strong forms from highly compressed clay and aggregates – to explore how clay-rich waste materials can be transformed into a joyful, playful and creative public space. Inspired by a lack of play facilities in Stoke town centre, this project invites communities to connect through clay, storytelling and design. Visit Sarah’s website.

Closing remarks: Claire Baily

Special thanks to the team here at the Wade Conference Centre for hosting us, and to the British Ceramics Biennial and HS2 for their partnership and support in making this event possible, especially Clare Wood and Louise Trodden.”
