Award films 2025 – Charlotte Moore

Film

Award is the British Ceramics Biennial’s headline exhibition. It invites ten selected artists to tread new ground, use the momentum of the exhibition to focus or make a step change in their practice or to present work in ways it hasn’t previously been experienced.

About the Award films

Each film introduces the Award artists and shares how, where and why they make their work. Created by acclaimed filmmakers Lucy and Cameron of Elastic Pie Films, they reveal clay to be a rich material for storytelling, experimentation, playfulness, risk-taking and activism.

Charlotte Moore is part of the Award exhibition at Spode Works, open daily 10am-4pm from 6 September – 19 October 2025.

About the artist

Charlotte Moore’s practice is informed by growing up in the Tamar Valley in Cornwall, a post-industrial landscape shaped by mining and agriculture. Her work examines how human activity drives botanical shifts, focusing on how non-native and local plant communities compete to reclaim landscapes and architecture.

For Award 2025, she will create a large ceramic gateway addressing the devastating impact of future wildfires in the Tamar Valley. Digital models, directly developed from wildflower data, will be brought to life through casting and hand-sculpting.
