Award films 2025 – Leah Jensen

Media category
Film

Award is the British Ceramics Biennial’s headline exhibition. It invites ten selected artists to tread new ground, use the momentum of the exhibition to focus or make a step change in their practice or to present work in ways it hasn’t previously been experienced.

About the Award films

Each film introduces the Award artists and shares how, where and why they make their work. Created by acclaimed filmmakers Lucy and Cameron of Elastic Pie Films, they reveal clay to be a rich material for storytelling, experimentation, playfulness, risk-taking and activism.

Leah Jensen is part of the Award exhibition at Spode Works, open daily 10am-4pm from 6 September – 19 October 2025.

About the artist

Leah Jensen is a skilled ceramic carver. Leah developed her signature style through a mapping method that enables her to carve intricate geometric interpretations of Renaissance paintings into ceramic pots.

For Award 2025, in a departure from her usual methods, Leah will explore anxieties around housing insecurity, drawing upon her experience in 21 different living situations. Using hand-building skills with unglazed terracotta, textiles and found objects, Leah will create an installation constructed from many objects.
