Award films 2025 – Noor Ali Chagani and Clio Lloyd-Jacob

Film

Award is the British Ceramics Biennial’s headline exhibition. It invites ten selected artists to tread new ground, use the momentum of the exhibition to focus or make a step change in their practice or to present work in ways it hasn’t previously been experienced.

About the Award films

Each film introduces the Award artists and shares how, where and why they make their work. Created by acclaimed filmmakers Lucy and Cameron of Elastic Pie Films, they reveal clay to be a rich material for storytelling, experimentation, playfulness, risk-taking and activism.

Noor Ali Chagani and Clio Lloyd-Jacob are part of the Award exhibition at Spode Works, open daily 10am-4pm from 6 September – 19 October 2025.

About the artists

The collaboration of Noor Ali Chagani and Clio Lloyd-Jacob is rooted in the forms and functions of brick and clay architecture in domestic, sacred and public spaces. They seek to highlight the cultural inheritances held in building patterns and the security, transformation and containment that we seek from built environments.

For Award 2025, they will present hand-built, precarious scale models interpreting existing buildings from their broad cultural heritages in tandem with large-scale drawing using clay on paper.
